Compulsory Homework
Please remember, as on the homework page in the class newsletters, children will be expected to read regularly at home. While you will not necessarily hear your child read aloud to you, you can ask your child about what they have read and explore any themes and issues with them. Children practice their spelling and write sentences weekly. They can go on Mathletics and Sumdog if they have access to a computer at home. Children can also use the desktop computers in Rm6 before school if necessary.
Key Competencies
This term we will continue to focus on the key competencies “Managing self,” “Relating to others” and “Participating and Contributing.” We will also focus on thinking and communicating. This will cover such aspects as asking questions and researching answers, finding different ways to solve a problem, thinking for myself and expressing opinions, reflecting on my work, communicating clearly using language, symbols and texts, understanding different ways of communicating, presenting ideas in a variety of ways and thinking of my audience. The children’s ability to develop and achieve these goals will be monitoring and recorded through a self and teacher assessment system. Your support in helping your child achieve these objectives would be appreciated.
Hats
Summer is here and it’s time to wear the school sun hats again. If your child does not have one, please purchase from the office asap. No hat, no play!
